A Storytelling Audio Collection for the Classroom

*Storytelling Audio Anthologies
*Many Voices: Assorted Storytelling Artists
*Heather Forest Storytelling Recordings

A Classroom listening library can include storytelling tapes. Currently, many storytelling artists have recorded audiotapes of their repertoires. To encourage listening skills, create a listening center in the classroom for students to visit and enjoy a tale in privacy with earphones or have a class time when everyone listens to recordings together.

Some Start-up Suggestions
Listening to storytelling anthologies that offer a sampling of storytelling artists is an enjoyable way for students to discover their favorite types of tellers and tales. The stories on the following anthology recordings are short and effective. Add audio recordings of individual artists to the listening library for further student exploration of particular tellers or styles.
